New!!!
Our school’s academic program is based on the principle of freedom within limits. The teachers determine, through observation of the children, when new activities and materials need to be introduced. Lessons are given individually or in small groups, with the aim of encouraging active, self-directed learning. Children are free to work at their own pace with materials they have chosen, either alone or with others. Experienced children share what they have learned with younger children, while reinforcing their own learning. Students work toward independence and taking responsibility for the learning process. And while Montessori education focuses on individual choice, students are expected to accomplish specific tasks and work to achieve goals according to their individual learning needs.
In our classes, the aim of work is to master the concepts, rather than to simply memorize the material. The overall goal is to help children become lifelong learners and happy, productive adults. We promote active learning by encouraging spontaneous activity in education and the pursuit of studies in all areas of personal interest. By using concrete manipulative materials, experimental discovery, small- and large-group discussions, independent research, field investigation and other methods of experimental learning, we facilitate the child’s need to work from the concrete to the abstract.
